In today’s society, people love to be entertained. If a place can provide a fun and exciting time for families, it is sure to draw a crowd. Plano TX is home to Russell Creek Park and Airview AC which contains an enormous amount of activities that will surely bring smiles to everyone in the family.
Russell creek park is located at 9500 Windrose Ave Plano Tx 75024. It is open daily, year-round weather permitting. The park has an entrance fee but it also gives access to the entire bike trail system which spans over 20 miles through Plano, Richardson, and North Dallas.
Russell Creek Park is a favorite for many local families because of the amenities that are normally seen in larger park districts. Playgrounds, fishing ponds, swimming pool, trails for walking and biking, skateboard ramps, driving range golf course, two off-leash dog parks within the Park District, an 18 hole disc golf course, tennis courts, an indoor workout facility called Windsurf Place were just some of the amenities at the park.
The two off-leash dog parks are an excellent source of entertainment for both dogs and owners alike. The amenities provided at these dog parks include benches, designated swim areas with beach entry, baggable trash receptacles as well as spigots for water. There is nothing better than a cool dip in the pond on a hot Texas day.
Many people visit Russell Creek Park regularly for the fishing ponds located within the park grounds. A valid fishing license is required and some of those who come to fish are from as far away as Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and parts of New Mexico. A daily entrance fee allows access to both ponds which each have a different type of fish. The west pond is a catch and release and the east pond has bluegill, catfish (which can be purchased), and bass.
The two playgrounds located within Russell Creek Park are well maintained and each contains ride-on toys for children to enjoy.
For those who like to work out or exercise, there is a free weight gym, a cardio room, and a yoga area. The facility is open from 5 am until 10 pm so it can accommodate workout routines on both weekdays and weekends.
With all of the amenities available along with its central location, it’s no wonder the park is one of Plano’s favorite attractions.
